Meditation & Relaxation! 130 traffic policemen mix mind, body and soul through new age music led by the “UNITED CONSCIOUSNESS” team led by Marvin Fernandes from Frequen-C, at Deer Park, opposite Kadri Park , Mangaluru

Mangalou: It wasn’t cacophonous horns or the sound of vehicles for the city’s nearly 130 traffic cops who drove to Old Deer Park across from Kadri Park in the early hours of the morning at 7 a.m. They all had a lovely morning getting away from the hustle and bustle of loud traffic and being exposed to high-pitched horns while on duty, rain or shine, had the opportunity to relax for an hour in the park during the ‘wellness session’ organized by the Únited Consciousness team led by Marvin Fernandes from Frequen-C.

In addition to these 130 traffic officers, even Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar and other senior police officers participated in the session. All the participants sat on the passages spreading out their rugs, while Marvin sat in the center with his musical team, including Gautham C Rao and Bhuvan Shetty, each of the team members playing different musical instruments, such as the merry Drum, Tum Drum, Tibetan Bowls, Bongos among other instruments. Loudspeakers were placed in appropriate places so that the participants could clearly listen to the music. Town Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar interacted with the participants and said that the New Age style of music is creative, melodic and relaxing for the mind, and music is created to help people awaken their consciousness. . “Use this music to help calm your mind with immediate effects,” the police commissioner added.

The session began with Gautham playing the guitar and singing a moving Kannada song “Nagu, Konegu, Ninagu”, after which Marvin took over and had the participants do breathing exercises. He then asked the participants to close their eyes and hear birdsong and other sounds of nature. Marvin, followed by Bhuvan Shetty, rolled sticks around Tibetan bowls of various sizes that produced buzzing sounds. Marvin also drummed as the participants lay down on the mat. During the session, the team introduced the traffic staff to new generation instruments that were played and mixed with the sound of nature.

MA Nataraj -ACP (Traffic) speaking about How this music session went, said: “It was around midnight six months ago near the Nanthoor junction, we were doing street checks on the vehicles. and we stopped a car, which had Marvin and his team returning from Sakleshpur after an event there. While searching the car, we found some unique musical instruments and, out of curiosity, I asked Marvin about the instruments in the vehicle. He explained the work of his team in promoting new age music, intended for relaxation. The team even played at the Nanthoor spot, and delighted with their music, I decided to work with Marvin to organize a music session for our traffic cops ”.

“But due to the pandemic, the program has been delayed. But eventually we got the chance where Marvin’s team played for the traffic cops who are always under extreme stress doing their jobs in a wet environment. There is no doubt that we have released a very successful event. We exposed our traffic policemen to music therapy, which helped them keep the ming relaxed. The session was an attempt to give our staff a break from the noise and pollution routine. It was a small initiative to refresh the mind. I asked Marvin to come up with some other relaxing and calming music in the future, so we could have another music session soon, and he immediately agreed. My sincere thanks to Marvin Fernandes and his team for making a difference among our police personnel with their new age music. Even our Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar was delighted and expressed his compliments for their performance, ”added ACP Nataraj.

Speaking to the Mangalorean team, Marvin Fernandes, who, along with his team, has organized over 500 music therapy sessions in Mangaluru and other Indian cities, said: “It was pure relaxation for the police in traffic through new age music. Our one hour program featured a sweet mix of nature with the Frequen-C team playing new age musical instruments to help the cops relax and also a great diversion from their daily schedule. The Frequen-C team is fully dedicated to the mission with Moi (Marvin) playing the hapi drum, tongue drum and bowls; Gautham playing the guitar, Bhuvan playing the rain stick and bowls, and Vernon handling the sounds. The Mission-1 team is also working very hard in various other areas. We played instruments like the happy drum, tongue drum, Tibetan bowls, rain stick and binaural beats as well as guided reflection therapy. On the guitar was Gautham, the rain sticks and bowls were handled by Bhuvan and the management and sound management of the session was Vernon.
