Spectrum of Solutions’ Big Boys’ Toys fundraiser is back

MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) — Mark your calendars for Spectrum of Solutions’ biggest fundraiser of the year. Big Boys’ Toys has been canceled for the past two years due to the pandemic, but is back for 2022. Big Boys’ Toys is Spectrum of Solutions’ largest annual fundraiser raising approximately $350,000 each year for the various programs offered on a non-profit basis.

“Because we haven’t been able to hold this event for the past two years due to COVID, our operating budget has really taken a hit as it’s our biggest resource outside of our programs,” said Kayla Minchew. , executive director of Spectrum. of solutions.

The event includes a car show, open bar, live and silent auctions and live music by country music star Ricky Skaggs. Money from the fundraiser helps support those living in Spectrum of Solutions 15 group homes and therapy programs for children with autism and developmental disabilities. Minchew said fundraising began in 2005 and played a big role in shaping the identity of Spectrum of Solutions.

“I think this event is very special, people know Spectrum of Solutions, or formally MARC, they associate Big Boys’ Toys with our name and we are grateful to want to honor the history of that,” Minchew said.

Minchew said it was exciting but planning for this year’s fundraiser has been difficult as people are reluctant to commit due to the previous two years, but Minchew said this year the show would continue.

“We understand, we’ve been canceled for two years and we just want the community to know that we’re not canceling the show and we’re thrilled to offer that and we’re just looking for future sponsors,” Minchew said.

Big Boys’ Toys will be at the Horseshoe Pavilion in Midland on March 26th. You can buy tickets and buy more information here.
