This is how the Independence Day celebrations in Cartagena will be lived

With a special commemorative act, organized on Cartagena’s first cultural stage, the Adolfo Mejía Theater, the Independence celebrations have begun.

Unlike last year, where due to the pandemic the festive events had to take place exclusively virtually, this year the agenda will allow certain events to have the presence of spectators.

One of these face-to-face was the commemorative prelude which, unlike the pre-pandemic editions, brought together in a single day those celebrations that take place in every city of Cartagena on the days before the start of the festivities. Likewise, the night has become the perfect time to present the candidates for the Independence Reign, as well as the perfect occasion to honor several of the most representative singers of La Heroica and, of course, the festive actors and infallible ” Lanceros ”(Lancers).

With the phrase “Ponte bacano, eso va! of the still current pandemic.

For the second year in a row, the evenings will not admit fanfares (parades and massive carnival-type groups) and part of the agenda will take place virtually. However, in the middle of his speech, the Mayor announced that from November 1, 100% capacity will be allowed in commercial premises and cultural places, highlighting the progress of vaccination in the city and the current figures of health emergency.

As of September 15, the occupancy rate of intensive care beds in the entire Cartagena hospital network was 56%. The city now has 361 intensive care beds between occupied and available.
